Women’s football in Scotland

The woman’s top flight is split up into two divisions the Scottish Building Society SWPL 1 and the Scottish Building Society SWPL 2. The current champions are Glasgow City and have won the league title a record 13 times.

The SPWL Cup final is taken place on the 10th of May at the Penny Cars Stadium and it is Hibernian vs Glasgow City it will be an interesting match but will be a tough one to predict. Players such as Samantha Kerr and Racheal Small will be big players for both teams.

Woman’s football is becoming more and more popular in Scotland and the fact that the team have made it to the World Cup this year is excellent. Scotland are in group D and will have some seriously tough games but the one everybody wants to see is the game against England. Hopefully players such as Erin Cuthbert and captain Rachel Corsie can make this years World Cup a memorable one for Scotland. What will be in store for Shirley Kerr’s team at this years World Cup do they have a chance in going all the way?

How important will Kim Little be for the team at the World Cup, will she be able to add to her impressive 53 goals for the national team. Hopefully as a nation we can give the team a good sent off at Hampden in their final game before the World Cup when they play Jamaica in a friendly on the 29th May.
